We have created this page to share with you the story of our brave little girls 4 year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia(AML-M4 EO).
After an eight year battle with I.V.F on the 15th November 2000 our baby girl was born, she was perfect. Ebony progressed just like every normal baby we knew, until one day we noticed her eye on the right side was watering, over the next few hours of travelling to doctors and emergency depts Ebony's whole face on one side was paralysed.
We were refered to a specialist, who told us Ebony had bells palsy caused by an ear infection and it would clear in a few months.
For the next five weeks she started to loose her appetite and was not her little bouncy self. We took her to numerous GP's who gave us no insite as to what was wrong with our little princess and they all boiled it down to the paranoid first mum syndrome.
On the morning of 17th October 2001 after breakfast Ebony started vomiting like I had never seen before so Nanny and I took her to Princess Margaret Hospital, that was the day our lives changed for ever. Within two hours I was told my beautiful baby girl had leukemia. We did not leave the hospital for the next 4 months. Ebony started intense chemotherapy straight away. It was a long hard battle but we finally took her home at the end of January 2002.
We spent the next 11 months having once a month blood tests and in Jan of 2003 nearly twelve months safe we were told Ebonys blood levels were high and she had relapsed.
She underwent intense chemo again and we started the search for a bone marrow donor.
We got a cord blood match from America.
After 9 weeks stay in hospital and watching the Wizard of Oz a thousand times over we took Ebony home with the transplant being classified as an unqualified sucess.
We enjoyed a wonderful time at home Ebony was wise beyond her years and had the personality of a 10 year old, she was only 3 at this stage and she was progressing into a beautiful intelligent little lady.
Then our fears became reality again, in March 2004 it was back, this time doctors advised she would probably not make it through another transplant, but it was our choice to go ahead using Mummy's 50% stem cells as a donor or to take her home.
The decision was not an easy one but, enough was enough, and we took her home with the knowledge she would relapse whithin 2 months and gave her the time of her life. With the help of many generous friends Ebony's wishes and dreams would all come true.
She rode in the Police Helicopter, landing on Langley Park.
We were sent on a magical holiday to Queensland, staying at Seaworld Resort were she spent a magical day swimming and splashed with Scooter the dolphin.At dreamworld Ebony was the guest of honour at a big party and met the Rugrats, Spongebob, and Dora the Explorer.
She went to Australia Zoo and her final fun day was at Movieworld. Ebony was shown the best time she met Tweety Bird & Daffy Duck, Scooby Doo and the Gang and was the main attraction at the Looney Tunes stage show.
We had the best holiday with lots of treasured memories.Ebony turned 4 in November and this meant she was eligible for her make a wish,She wished for a flying fox just like Ranitas one in the Occupational Therapy unit at the hostpital, Thanks...... And in july 2005 half our backyard was turned into Ebonys playground complete with a slide and flying fox again with the help of the starlight foundation and many friends.
For 2 solid months she spent every spare second she could in the sand.
By this stage our 2 months had turned into 16 months and we quietly thought maybe a miracle had occured.
Ebony started school and made many friends,something she had always wanted, but with being so isolated had never had the chance.
Then on 14th September 2005 our nightmare began, there was no turning back, no more trying to achieve a remmission, we had Pinky promised her that there would be no more Doctors, Nurses or Hospital and that she would never lose her pretty hair ever again.
We kept that promise and took her home.
The next 2 months was a living nightmare, trying to entertain her without showing her our saddness, Mummy, Daddy, Nanny and Papa would look after her and never leave her side, not for a second.
She had many friends come to visit and would tell everyone she was going to be 5 soon, but it was taking too long.
Our precious Ebony slipped away peacefully on the 16th November to play with the fairies in heaven, just 1 day after her 5th birthday.
Her dream of being 5 came true.
Ebony we dedicate this page to your memory, you are the bravest, kindest, most loving little person in our wholest land and we are so proud of you and the short time you had here with us.
But for now our little punky its time to run with the butterflies through fields of all your favourite flowers singing somewhere over the rainbow.
We love you with all our hearts for ever and ever.

Ebony always loved a fairytale where the princess rode off in a horse drawn carriage and lived happily ever after, so on the day of Ebony's funeral hundreds of people came all dressed in pink to watch our princess arrive in her gold carriage, with Millie the horse carrying her to her final farewell.
